Khanyi, who was born in Johannesburg, has been quietly shaping her sound since she was six years old, when her father recognized her affinity for singing nursery rhymes at the top of her lungs and put her in piano and vocal classes. She started penning her own songs and creating tunes to accompany her thoughts just two years later.
Most evenings after school were spent with her father, who would play some of the biggest superstars through their surround sound, from ABBA to Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston to Mariah Carey, Freshly Ground to Bob Marley, and to top it all off, Mafikizolo.
