What is Nigerian Amapiano?

Amapiano is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South Africa in the 2010s. However, the term “Nigerian Amapiano” is not a well-defined genre, it is a sub-genre of Amapiano that has been influenced by Nigerian music.

Nigerian Amapiano is a fusion of Nigerian music and Amapiano, it’s characterized by the use of drums, percussion and melodic elements that are common in Nigerian music, combined with the deep bass, piano and synths sounds of Amapiano. Some of the most popular Nigerian Amapiano songs and artists are “Jowo” by Rema, “Osanle” by Zlatan ft. Davido, “Amaka” by 2Baba ft. Peruzzi, and “Infinity” by Olamide.

Nigerian Amapiano is not as popular as the original South African Amapiano, but it has been gaining popularity in recent years and it’s considered to be a new trend in Nigerian music Industry.

Here are some popular Nigerian Amapiano songs:

  • “Jowo” by Rema

As I mentioned before, Nigerian Amapiano is not as popular as the original South African Amapiano, but it has been gaining popularity in recent years and it’s considered to be a new trend in Nigerian music Industry.

As Nigerian Amapiano is not a well-defined genre, there are not many albums that have been exclusively labeled as “Nigerian Amapiano album”. However, some Nigerian artist have released albums that feature Amapiano sound and some songs that are considered Nigerian Amapiano.

Here are a few examples of Nigerian albums that feature Amapiano sound:
